Hardanger
Plateau
Europe's largest mountain plateau region is the
wilderness barrier between Oslo and Bergen. Much of the region is incorporated
into the Hardangervidda National Park, Norway's largest, home to moose, lynx,
and Europe's largest herd of reindeer. There are but a few traditional villages
and some outdoor resort complexes in this remote, spectacular scenery. Although
the region is served by
the scenic Oslo–Bergen rail line,
it is best explored by automobile.. |
|
Attractions in the Hardanger Plateau Region: Rugged glaciated mountains,
spectacular waterfalls, and remote farming communities; outdoor adventure activities including whitewater rafting,
hiking, cycling, and cross-country skiing.

Lodgings:
HOME AT FIRST's lodging here is a family-run hotel on the
eastern edge of the Hardangervidda National Park. The hotel provides quality rooms, and
and excellent restaurant. Because of the remoteness of the region, evening meals at the
hotel are included in the package. Guests arriving by train will be picked up by the hotel
van at the nearest station on the Bergen-Oslo line.
