Getting
Around the Oslo Fjord: No part of Norway is as
congested with traffic than greater Oslo. The commuter rail network and ferries do provide
some transportation options for those who don't wish to drive. Still, getting to the
out-of-town attractions is best accomplished with rental car. Rail services to Oslo are
frequent making it possible take the train into the city in less than one
hour.
Norwegians,
like all of us, must deal
with congested roads and delayed
commuter trains. What they dream of is
escaping life's routines in a boat. In this
regard Norwegians remain Norsemen.

Getting to/from
the Oslo Region: In Norway all roads and railroads (and most flights
and international ferries) lead to Oslo. Visitors travel to/from Oslo
via rental car, the
scenic, high-speed trains of Norwegian
Rail, international and inter-Scandinavian Flights from Oslo International Airport (with
high-speed rail link to Oslo Central Station), and even international ferry services.
South of Oslo, cross-fjord ferries connect the east and west shores of
the Oslo Fjord at Moss and Horten. |
