why we go to Iceland —

• Iceland's summer daylight lasts up to 22 hours, providing visitors lots of extra time for exploring and activities May–August.

• Iceland's northern latitudes extend to the Arctic Circle, meaning chances are good to see the Northern Lights anytime from September through April.

• Iceland's Viking past is rooted in Norway, and we have a thing for Vikings.

• Iceland's geothermal marvels remind us of New Zealand, and we have a thing for New Zealand, too. And for the prospects for green, geothermal energy.

• Iceland is an Atlantic island easily reached and readily explored, like Bermuda, Ireland, and Britain.

• Icelanders are a hardy lot, known to be daring mariners, independent women and strong men. We'd like to be so hardy.

And as good-looking.

• Iceland's hardy people and noble horses mirror its rugged, photogenic geography. It's hard to put down the camera in Iceland.

• Iceland's fresh-food cuisine leans toward our tastes, especially the catch-of-the-day.

• Icelanders work hard and play hard. Visitors are invited to play, too. There are geothermal pools for swimming and spa-ing, glaciers and lava fields to scramble over or 4-wheel across, mountains to climb and volcanoes to observe from the air, horses to run in the fields or on the beaches, caverns (& even a volcano!) to descend, and tectonic fault lines to straddle. Fortunately, Iceland sets the table and lines the bar for played-out visitors. Icelanders are as friendly & hospitable as they are hardy & handsome.

In our customers' own words —

"This was an amazing trip with a 'wow factor' everywhere we went. Iceland is unlike any other country we have visited. The stunning scenery from waterfalls to glaciers to geysers plus many other beautiful sights was spectacular. The Icelanders are very hospitable people and each one we met spoke English. The food was outstanding — we ate everything from delicious fish to lamb soup and reindeer burgers. This is a great road trip — we highly recommend the 10-day adventure."
