TERRACE APARTMENTS
EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND

THE SETTING:
The Terrace Apartments are ideally located less than a ten-minute walk from Princes Street, Edinburgh’s main shopping and historic avenue that leads to
EDINBURGH CASTLE. The nearest bus stop is less than a two minutes away. Several restaurants are close by, and a modern Waitrose supermarket about seven minutes away. The apartments are located in a historic Victorian townhouse in Edinburgh’s New Town conservation district.

THE FOUR APARTMENTS:

Living Room — Ground Floor Apartment

There are four flats at the Terrace Apartments. Each occupies a floor of the four-story townhouse, and all are tastefully furnished throughout. There is no elevator (lift), so guests staying in the upper apartments must be prepared to negotiate stairs.

Each flat has a fully-equipped kitchen (stove, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, and washer/dryer), and one or two full bathrooms. Apartments have color flat-screen TVs, DVDs, and a CD/radio, but lack telephones. Warmth is provided by central heating with individually controlled radiators. Fresh towels and linens are exchanged weekly.

Private guest parking is available, but most guests do not need to rely on cars, as public transportation is convenient, safe, and frequent. Guests are provided access to the building’s secure main entrance. The welcoming owner/host resides in the building and is available to answer questions or attend to any apartment maintenance issues that may arise.

The four apartments include:

• GROUND FLOOR: One-bedroom (king-size bed), full bathroom (tub/shower), open-plan living room/kitchen (flat-screen TV; fireplace). Ideal lodging for a couple.

• SECOND FLOOR (1st Floor in British parlance): A two-bedroom (one with twin beds; one with king bed and ensuite bathroom), two-bathroom (each with tub/shower), open-plan living room/kitchen (flat-screen TV; fireplace) apartment that sleeps up to four persons in comfort.

• THIRD FLOOR (2nd Floor in British parlance): A two-bedroom (one with twin beds; one with king bed, TV, and ensuite bathroom), two-bathroom (each with tub/shower), open-plan living room/kitchen (flat-screen TV; fireplace) apartment that comfortably sleeps up to four persons. This flat offers tree-top views toward old Edinburgh.

• FOURTH (TOP) FLOOR (3rd Floor in British parlance): This two-bedroom flat occupies the building's top floor. One bedroom has twin beds; the second bedroom has a queen bed. There is a living room/dining room, a separate kitchen, and one full bathroom (tub/shower). Extensive views from this top-floor apartment look beyond Edinburgh across the Forth toward the Kingdom of Fife. With just one bathroom and three flights of stairs, this apartment may best serve a young family.

THE LOCATION:
Edinburgh is best known for its great
CASTLE and the Holyrood Palace, both within a few minutes of the Terrace Apartments. Other notable city attractions that are within easy reach of the Terrace Apartments include the Royal Botanic Garden, the National Museum of Scotland, and the National Galleries of Scotland. Edinburgh has many exclusive shops, including several devoted to Scottish themes of tartans and Scotch whisky. The city hosts a number of important festivals throughout its year, especially the annual Edinburgh Festival (of the arts) each August and the concurrent famed Edinburgh Military Tattoo, as well as Scotland’s largest Hogmanay (New Year’s) celebration, and William Wallace Day.

ACTIVITIES:
Edinburgh has numerous museums and galleries, many of which are near the Terrace apartments. Using
Edinburgh as a touring base, it is possible to visit several areas of Scotland by public transportation (railway), including Glasgow, Inverness, Stirling, St Andrews, Aberdeen, Oban, and Fort William. Edinburgh’s principal rail station, Waverly Station, is about one mile from the apartments.

Golfers will enjoy Edinburgh’s close proximity to many of Scotland’s great seaside links courses on the Fife and Lothian coasts, including St. Andrews, Muirfield, and North Berwick.
