The Renaissance Glory of

SIENA

ITALY

Siena’s Italian Gothic Piazza del Campo — 14th century architectural treasure — still the city’s center.

Experience Siena, Italy

Jewel of the Italian Renaissance

Siena, Tuscany: walled, hilltop, traffic-free, central-Tuscan city of about 50,000, much as it was in the 14th century at the height of the Italian Renaissance. Although Siena’s origins go back 2,500 years or more, its World Heritage Status is earned by its largely unspoiled medieval, brick and stone, Gothic core. Carefully maintained since its construction six to eight centuries ago, Siena appears the physical embodiment of a Renaissance painting. Home At First‘s Siena lodgings are located inside a gated estate just outside the city’s medieval walls, away from the crowds of visitors that often swarm to Siena, yet close enough to be walkable or a very short drive to parking at a city gate.

For guests with cars, Siena makes a fine touring base within two hours drive time (or less) to Pisa, Lucca, Florence, Assisi, Perugia, to the famous Chianti wine region and the wine towns of Montalcino and Montepulciano, and the nearest beaches on Tuscany’s Tyrrhenian seacoast. Home At First offers three vacation apartments on the expansive, manicured, 12-acres estate. All three apartments are decorated and comfortably furnished in traditional Tuscan style. The apartments are clean, well cared for, and well-equipped. All are within short drives (5-10 minutes or so) to stores, services, several restaurants, and to Siena’s railway station. Each apartment has secure entry and reserved parking. The restored 17th century estate is accessed only by a electronically secure gate and private lane leading uphill from a safe, if bustling, residential community. Importantly, all Home At First Siena, Italy, apartments come with caring, accessible English-speaking hosts on-site or very close by, who can arrange individual tours through Siena, balcony seats to the Palio races, insider visits to a Montalcino wine estate (producer of noted Brunello wines), and even bring a professional chef for an afternoon’s Tuscan cooking lesson in your apartment.
